ABOUT MITCHELL FORRY

For the past 20 years I have dedicated myself to providing the highest quality services to my customers while building lasting relationships. Through constant education, technique development, and use of top-quality products, I am able to deliver the best value in painting, wallpapering, and faux finishing projects and installations to my clients in Central PA.

My skill set has grown over the years to include the installation of various types of residential and commercial grade wallpapers, liners and wallcoverings; interior architectural painting (ceilings, walls and trim), and faux finishing, texturing and wood graining. As trends come and go, there isn't much that I haven't seen or installed.

I recently achieved Certified Paperhanger (C.P.) status at the national convention in Niagara Falls, NY. Through rigorous written testing, I have demonstrated and validated my qualifications, knowledge and skill that permits only the true professional to earn this designation by the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers. There are fewer then 100 active C.P.'s in all of North America!

I have become involved in many trade organizations and business related groups over the past ten years. I am currently the president of the Central PA Chapter of the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers (NGPP) as well as serving as the Liaison/ PDCA Technical Chair at the national level of NGPP of which I have been a member for 10 years.

Serving as a board member from the Pennsylvania District in the Middle Atlantic Council of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) since 2008, I have seen the importance of membership in trade organizations as they relate to the education and business development of painting and wallcovering contractors. I have also served as president of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of PDCA from 2003-2004.

More recently I have been appointed to chair the Advocacy and Regional Planning Committee of the Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Being a resident of the Elizabethtown area for a dozen years, I am working with a team of business leaders and professionals to re-establish Elizabethtown as a tourist and business destination in Lancaster County.

In 1999 and 2000 I participated in a professional and cultural exchange program between PDCA and the German Painters' Guild (Malerverband), through which I learned more about European painting techniques and business practices. Previously, I had worked for painting and decorating firms in Millersville, Lancaster and the Lehigh Valley as part owner, field supervisor and lead painter and paperhanger respectively. Having graduated from the University of Delaware in 1988 with a political science degree and biology minor, I have enjoyed applying that knowledge toward running a successful business.

I am a lifelong member of Donegal Presbyterian Church in Mount Joy, PA and have served the Church as a deacon for 5 years, was a member of the Physical Plant Team that planned and implemented the beautiful addition to our church, and am currently the secretary of the Building and Grounds committee (trustees). Our co-ed softball team at Donegal plays in the Donegal Area Softball League from April until August. My wife and 2 children are active members of the church and have seen our lives enriched through Christ.

Through all of my working life in the industry I continue to enjoy learning new techniques, meeting new people, and being a leader in my profession. I am prepared to meet the challenges of our ever-changing profession and the broader new economy. Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business and I look forward to meeting you!
